Fahrenheit 9/11

I watched Michael Moore’s controversial film about George Bush today. All I can say is, you should get it from your local video shop and watch it. While you’re about it, tremble at the prospect that Bush’s gang of crooks and liars may get another four years to corrupt, exploit and abuse the people of the world. Moore’s documentary is partisan for sure, but that doesn’t make his accusations false. So many voters in the US are apparently unmoved by the issues the fat guy raises, that I have to conclude that in America, being an idle, dishonest son of a bitch, is no bar to office. Oh – and Q - if you’re there and wondering why I haven’t blogged on the question of the UK’s devolution referendum – sorry. I’ve spent my time writing about American politics, because they matter, and whether or not we have a North East Assembly won’t make the slightest difference to anyone, except to the wasters on the assembly gravy train. I mean, why would voting for another useless layer of bureaucracy be interesting, when Bush might get another four years to enrich his family and destabilise the world?

Sorry Fred,
I don't reckon that dross deserves to be classed as documentary.

If you want a real documentary, get Mary Goldring out of retirement, for some honest thoughtful analysis.

Moore would have been better employed in analysing how successive western governments and diplomats (including ours) have been seduced by the Saudi committment to "You look after us while you are in power, and we will look after you when it's over". That's quite a retirement plan, isn't it?

And if you really reckon the assembly issue is not worth your attention, you won't mind me telling you how to vote. THE CORRECT ANSWER IS NO!

Don't forget to post it....

Already done it my dear, and posted it. The choice I made would meet with your full approval. Four votes went from my address yesterday - all in the same vein.

Have you seen the Moore film? I suppose you have since you comment on it.

You've convinced me. I'm an undecided voter in a "battleground" state. Thanks to you, I'm going to cast my vote for a Kerry electoral voter.

To the US citizen in the battle ground state.

Yours is a great and generous country. It deserves the VERY best leadership it can have. Your conscience will guide you to do the right thing, and people all over the world need you to make that conscientious vote. Whether it be as I'd wish or not - I salute you.

No Fred, I haven't seen the whole film I have seen transcripts, excepts, and summaries. It might actually surprise you to know, that most of the favourites in my website links are decidely leftist. And it is staggering how they pour their righteous ..
contempt upon the serried ranks of George Galloway, Redgrave,Lyndsay German,Sir Anthony Wedgewood Benn, and the Socialist Workers Party who have planted their support firmly into the camp of those who are about to tear our hearts out by carving a nice kind lady's head off on video..

Do please get it out on video Q. It's worth three quid, and once you get over Moore's own obnoxious delivery, the accusations he makes are damning. Those who pour out their bile on his film, rarely take the trouble to answer the accusations, and much of what he accuses the Bush - Cheney - Carlisle group of is obviously true. If a tenth of it is - they should be impeached.

I wouldn't put all of those people you mention in the same category either. Tony Benn is not George Galloway - not by a long way, even though he irritates me severely. Some of what Benn says is right.

The other thing is, I do hope you aren't linking opposition to a war based on a pack of lies with support for the vile beheaders and mass murderers that only came into the country after WE conspired to remove the previous authority. Zarqawi's Tawhid wa Jihad group, got in there precicely because of the chaos left by the war. I was writing to Claire on IH months before the war, that the Iraqi army would run for cover and the more serious of them would create the mother of all insurgencies. Long time diplomats - dismissed snearingly as 'Arabists' were warning of the same thing.

Well, Fred, the thing about bulk shredders is this: They really do what they are advertised to do. It really is that bad.

I suspect that it is time for a rethink...
