Cess Pit Of Evil

The antichrist and his heir – Paisley and Robinson

Why am I not surprised to read that hate crimes are a growing problem in Northern Ireland? Probably because hate crimes have been a feature of that benighted province for decades. What else were the systematic indignities of the suppression of Catholics by the so called ‘Loyalist' population throughout the twentieth century? What else were the revolting scenes of barbarism that have taken place outside Catholic schools where five year olds and their mothers were spat at and abused? Just listen to the poisonous bile of the evil Doctor Ian Paisley as he rants that the Pope is the antichrist.

If I seem to be leaving out one party to the troubles, I am. Here we're talking about hate crime, and I put that firmly in the hands of the bitter right-wing Protestantism of Paisley and his ilk. Men who have systematically preached hatred and intolerance and have done everything they could to hinder progress between communities. The reason we have no working devolved government there today is that the so called Democratic Unionists, refuse to take part. IRA violence, though wrought by psychopaths and murderous dogs, was a reaction to oppression. Evil as it was in it’s often indiscriminate carnage, it would never have started but for the bitter poison of the likes of Paisley.

If there is a Hell, may he rot in it – and the sooner the better.

Fred my primary education was in our local Catholic school. I went to Mass every Sunday morning. There was a hell of a lot of hatred and bigotry there, against Protestants, Socialists, and progressive Catholics like my own family. Well this "Divil com to Chorch" chose an Anglican Grammar school, and never looked back at that sorry institution, that deployed it's followers in their church on the basis of ethnicity (Irish at the front, Poles and Italians in the middle, Scots and English at the back). Paisley is scum, sure, but Karel Wojtila is no better, and Mother Theresa was a horrible old harpy who makes Queenie look like Clare Rayner.
Let me assure you, that an essay under the title "My Family at Prayer", would make for some quite interesting reading. In my time, I reckon I have seen both the best, and the worst, that English Catholicism has to offer. But let's not kid ourselves about the Irish variety.

I'd have been nearer the front than you then Q. We have more in common than you may think. I have no illusions about Catholicism - that's why I gave it up almost forty years ago, but that isn't what the blog was about. It was about the unremitting rejectionism of the Ulster hard right wing. You've seen my ravings against the IRA elsewhere, I dare say. I'll redress the balance shortly, but Paisley and his squab deserve a special place in my pot of hatred. They've earned it mightily.

Your comments on Karel Wojtila and Mother Theresa strike a chord. Wojtila has taken leave of his senses long ago - the recent beatification of an Austrian Emperor who hassed the trops of his enemy, does not sit well with the teachings of the man from Nazareth. As for Mother Theresa, there is an interesting website you might look for, which has her down as a corrupt and mendacious old bitch - and a friend of right wing dictators to boot. As for Q aspiring to be as nice as Clair Rayner, I had you down as being a lot nicer than her, leaving aside the times I accused you of beastiality and witchcraft.
